Folly Beach

Andrew's family rented a beach house on Folly Beach last week and it was a great visit!  Though we aren't too far from the beach, it's still a 45min drive so it was nice to be able to just park it at the beach house and not worry about parking or driving or where I can go to rinse more sand out of my baby's mouth.

I still hadn't had the chance to get pics taken for Lizzie's first birthday so I decided to do it that week. And Andrew and I haven't had pictures taken together since our wedding. So I bit the bullet and got a photographer. And it turned out...amazing! I might have to do this again. :)

A Year of Change

Finally! One more thing off my to-do list. I've been meaning to get these done forever but of course there's always something else going on. I've been trying to keep up with Natalee's month-by-month pictures this year. I kept the dimensions the same throughout the year by putting her on the same mat, even when she got too big to fit on it!

From there it was easy, just crop around the edges in Photoshop, add a black background, and layer with the month. I can't believe how much she's grown!

Keep the Carseat Cool

Before baby, I didn't mind the hot, horrible, sticky interior of a vehicle on a summer's day here in Charleston. Not as much as I do now, anyway.

Seriously. It wouldn't be half as bad if my Jeep had magical rear-blowing vents. Instead, the vents are positioned to blow directly on the back of Lizzie's rear-facing carseat. Not especially effective.

So in an effort to save some time, I decided to fight back. I filled up an empty jug of OJ, froze it, and have been using it this week when I run errands. I grab Lizzie. I put my frozen baby OJ jug in the car seat. I return, and at least the car seat isn't hot enough to melt faces. It's not perfect, but it saves a lot of time. I'm okay sweating for a few minutes but I wasn't a fan of getting a sweaty-haired baby out of the vehicle.

I don't mind the condensation too much. I suppose if I were going to be gone for hours and hours it might be a problem but we haven't had that issue so far. If you try it, let me know how it works for you!

Toddlers are Weird

Lizzie has been doing some really weird shit. I'm not sure when it started, but I'm blaming the first birthday.

Two nights ago she stayed up until three. She just sat there staring at things for hours, with big creepy Gollum eyes. You could tell that she was exhausted and she refused to be set down, but she seemed to be daring herself to stay awake.

Then the past few weeks her favorite game has been "wrap the panties around the head." She digs in my closet and comes out with a new "scarf." I pulled off fifteen at one time. Panties I didn't know I still had. The weird thing is, the scarf drawer is right next to the panty drawer.

I'm sure this is just the start of a toddler weird phase. I can't wait to see what else she comes up with, and I'd love to hear about weird shit your toddlers have done too!
